K-songs Beyond Pop: K-indie Edition

On this blog, we’ve discussed K-pop, Korean hip-hop, and K-rnb. But we’ve not yet talked about Korean indie. Luckily, if you've never tried delving into this genre before, you’ve probably been exposed to it at least once. So, you don't have to feel behind in any way.

The Korean indie band, Wave to Earth, went viral this year for their song “seasons.” It trended on Tiktok as a heartfelt and bittersweet love song that people used to pair with videos of their favorite K-pop idols, or aesthetic clips from the user’s own lives.

The band’s songs continued to trend one after another, and now you can find them on Spotify’s official playlists such as their “Chill Vibes” mix. Not only that, but Wave to Earth became the number one K-band on Spotify, even beating out certain K-pop groups in terms of followers.

Their success should be a testament to the massive appeal that Korean indie music has to offer. While some artists that go viral on Tiktok don't always live up to the hype, I can guarantee that you will find top notch quality K-indie songs without having to look too hard.

And, so you don't have to do any work at all, I’m going to introduce a few K-indie artists in this blog post right now!
