K-pop October Highlights

It’s been a busy month for the K-pop industry. Keeping up with all the comebacks requires a concentrated effort from even the most chronically online K-pop stans. See what you might have missed this October, and use this moment to check out some new music!

New Jeans “GODS”

This single, released on October 4th, is a collaboration song between NewJeans and League of Legends. Its dramatic sound is a switch up from New Jeans typical soft concept. This powerful song is the anthem for the League of Legends 2023 Season World Championship.

NCT 127 “Fact Check”

NCT came back again on October 6th to release their fifth studio album “Fact Check.” Consisting of nine songs, this album includes the title track 'Fact Check (Mysterious)' of the same name. This synth-heavy dance song expresses the group’s confidence that they aren’t afraid to compare themselves to valuable art.

IVE “I’VE MINE”

Ive also came back, and this time feeling more authentic than ever, with a heartfelt track “Either Way” that expresses being free from other people’s gaze. There are five other tracks on the Extended Play, and each has a different vibe from the previous. Be sure to listen to "Off the Record" and "Baddie" as well for the full experience.

CHUU “Howl”

Chuu, a beloved member of the former K-pop group, Loona, made her official solo debut on October 18th! The title track, “Howl,” has a synthpop sound and a feel-good vibe. The other four tracks have a similar feeling, and with Chuu’s skilled vocals this is an album you don’t want to overlook.

Seventeen “Seventeenth Heaven”

On October 23rd, Seventeen released their 11th mini album: Seventeenth Heaven. "God of Music" serves as the album's title track, and it perfectly reflects the fun energy of the group. The other seven tracks explore different genres, such as dance, EDM, R&B, rock, hip-hop, and ballad songs. This album is a must-listen!

Billlie “Memoirs of Echo Unseen”

“Memoirs of Echo Unseen” is K-pop girl group Billlie’s first single album. If you liked “Cupid” by Fifty Fifty, chances are you’ll like the song “BYOB” from this album. Overall, this album gives off dreamy/eerie vibes that complemented the Halloween season.

Sunmi “STRANGER”

K-pop soloist Sunmi made her comeback on October 17th. With multiple beat changes and the inclusion of orchestral strings in her title track “Stranger,” her album makes for a spooky yet awe-inspiring experience. Sunmi is known for having great b-sides as well, so check out this comeback.
